No Evict

Free for renters · by BizBox

Every photo, text and notice. One binder.

A leak, mold, a repair that never came. The record is spread across your camera roll, your messages and the kitchen counter. No Evict puts it in date order and numbers every item, so you can hand over one binder with an index.

How it works

Five kinds of proof in. One record out.

Add things as they happen, or all at once. No Evict never edits what you add: the original stays exactly as it was, with its own date, and it gets a number in your binder.

Inside the binder

Six layers, in the same order every time.

Whoever you show it to finds things the same way: the index first, then any item by its number.

Sample record. Avery Monroe is a fictional renter; her photos, messages and receipts are illustrations, not a real case.

Until you start, this is a sample, and nothing you do here is sent anywhere. Document organisation and public information. Not legal advice. Laws vary by city and state: for advice, talk to a lawyer or legal aid.

Your blueprint

Who to contact, in what order.

For a repair problem such as a leak or mold in a Los Angeles rental. Each step names who handles what and how to reach them. Pick where the rental is: the agencies change at the city line.

Inside Los Angeles city limits. Many addresses with an “LA” mailing address are separate cities or unincorporated areas; if you are not sure, ask when you call. More cities are being added; in the meantime, the state resources below apply across California.
  1. The state’s official tenant guide says to notify your landlord in writing about needed repairs and keep a copy. For an urgent problem it says to tell the landlord right away, then follow up in writing. Say what the problem is, where, and since when.

  2. Local code enforcement inspects rental housing for violations of the housing code. Which office depends on where the rental is.

  3. Los Angeles County’s Environmental Health division investigates habitability complaints in rental housing, including mold.

  4. For advice about your own situation, these legal aid organisations and tenant groups help renters in Los Angeles. Eligibility and services vary: check with each one.

  5. California’s official guides explain renters’ and landlords’ rights and responsibilities statewide. 211 LA can point you to other local help.

  6. Log each call, visit and letter with its date, and add new photos as things change. Your binder’s index and timeline update themselves, so it is ready whenever someone asks to see it.

These are public agencies and long-established nonprofits, and what each one says it handles. It is not a list of things you must do, and the order is a common way to organise contacts, not a legal requirement. Check details with each agency before you rely on them.

No Evict organises your documents and points you to public information. It is not legal advice, and BizBox is not a law firm. Laws vary by city and state, and they change. For advice about your situation, talk to a lawyer or a legal aid organisation.

Agency details checked against each official page on Oct 9, 2026. Phone numbers, forms and rules change: the agency’s own page is the authority.

Questions

Plain answers. No fine print.

Is No Evict free?

Yes. It is one of BizBox’s life tools: the record, the binder and the blueprint are free.

Is this legal advice?

No. No Evict organises your own documents and points to public agencies and nonprofits. It is not legal advice and BizBox is not a law firm. Laws vary by city and state; for advice about your situation, talk to a lawyer or a legal aid organisation.

Does the binder change my photos?

No. The original file is stored exactly as you add it. No Evict reads its date and makes a fingerprint (SHA-256) of it, so anyone can later check that the original is the same file.

Do I have to sign in?

No. You can start your record right away and keep it in this browser on this device: nothing is uploaded or sent to BizBox. Sign in if you want it kept in your BizBox account instead, so you can open it from any device.

Who can see my record?

If you keep it in this browser: anyone who uses this browser on this device, and nobody else. If you sign in: only you and BizBox admins. Files in an account are stored privately and opened through a link that lasts ten minutes.

What do I do with the binder?

That is your decision. People bring a binder like this to a legal aid clinic, a lawyer, a housing inspector or a hearing so the facts are easy to follow. Ask whoever you are working with what they need.
