Care basics

Start them
right.

General guidance for these families. We confirm care for your exact plant before you order.

  1. 01 · Moss shows youLight

Monstera, Philodendron, Alocasia and Anthurium do best in bright, indirect light. Harsh direct sun can scorch young leaves.

  2. 02 · Moss shows youWater

Water when the top of the mix starts to dry, then let it drain. Never leave the pot standing in water.

  3. 03 · Moss shows youHumidity, slowly

A tissue-culture plantlet grows up in a humid jar. Keep it covered or somewhere humid at first, then open it up to room air over a couple of weeks.

  4. 04 · Moss shows youMix and pot

An airy, fast-draining mix (bark, perlite and some coir or peat) in a pot with drainage holes.

  5. 05 · Moss shows youThe carnivores

Nepenthes and Heliamphora are different: very bright light, rainwater or distilled water, and no fertilizer in the soil.
